2× UK Wave Champions — The Simmer Team Is on Fire!!!

Date

The 41st Tiree Wave Classic turned into a true waiting game. After six windless days, the event was extended by an extra day to finally get the competition underway. When the wind arrived, it was cross-on port tack with clean, head-high sets — perfect conditions for some serious action. Phil Horrocks looked dialed in, sailing his new Blacktip Team Carbon sails on his trusted Quantex board. Meanwhile, Cori McFarlane rigged her 4.5 m and rotated between her 72 L and 78 L Flywave boards. Both current UK Champions were ready and determined to defend their titles.

Phil advanced through a nail-biting heat against Andy Chambers, landing a clean taka to seal the deal. In the final, he faced Dieter Van Der Eyken. Phil took the upper hand in the air with a stylish one-handed backloop and a big tabletop forward, but a couple of missed wave rides tipped the balance in Dieter’s favour. Dieter took the event win, with Phil claiming a solid 2nd place.

In the women’s fleet, Cori McFarlane found her rhythm early, throwing her trademark forward loop to dominate the final and take the Tiree Wave Classic Women’s title. With Cori’s win and Phil’s runner-up result, both now hold unbeatable leads heading into the West Wittering finale — securing Simmer both the 2025 Men’s and Women’s UK Championship titles.

A special mention goes to young Bendy Szinksac, who placed 4th in the Youth division in his debut event for the Simmer UK Team — a rider to watch!

Simmer also proudly donated Marc Paré’s prototype 4.7m Team Carbon sail to rising star Joshua Brotherstone, recognised for his outstanding dedication and motivation. Congratulations, Joshua — your future looks bright!

Congratulations to Phil Horrocks and Cori McFarlane
