The Evoq is crafted for the experieced wave sailor who demands radical performance while appreciating a more relaxed and controllable ride. Engineered for plug-and-play versatility, the Evoq delivers exceptional performance across a range of conditions, whether you’re focused on jumping, wave riding, or charging in massive surf.
After the success of the 2024 Evoq, we have continued refining the sail’s design for 2025, enhancing its overall performance. Key improvements include increased forward drive, precise adjustments to the cutline and luff curve, and an optimized panel layout to reduce seams while maximizing the potential of the chosen materials. These enhancements create a lightweight sail with exceptional build quality. The 2025 Evoq also features one of the smoothest twists we’ve ever crafted, resulting in highly refined and responsive handling on the water.
The Evoq’s design features a split batten configuration tailored for optimal handling across all sizes. The 3.7 to 4.7 sizes utilize a 4-batten panel layout, while the 5.0 to 6.2 sizes incorporate a 5-batten panel layout. This strategic design allows for precise batten spacing, ensuring the ideal balance of draft and stability. The sail sizes are progressively engineered, with smaller sizes featuring a reduced sail profile for control, and larger sizes providing additional low-end power for early planing in lighter winds.
To inspire confidence in demanding conditions, the main window of the 3.7 to 5.3 sizes is constructed with wide-spaced X-Ply for durability, while the larger sizes utilize monofilm to maximize visibility and performance. The Evoq is designed to meet the needs of experienced wave sailors, delivering peak performance in all conditions, from gusty onshore winds to pumping surf on the north shore. Its versatility ensures you’re covered no matter the environment.

// Split Batten Lineup
The Evoq features a split batten lineup for ultimate handling throughout all sizes. The 3.7 to 4.7 feature a 4 batten panel layout, and from 5.0 to 6.2 a 5 batten panel layout. The main benefit is that we can design the sail with the exact needed distance between the battens needed to achieve the right feeling for draft and stability. The sail sizes are progressively designed in both construction and sail profile. The smaller sizes have less sail profile, and the larger ones offer more low-end grunt for getting going in marginal conditions.
1 // Laminate Load Line
Kevlar load line from top to tack to control the central effort; increase the longevity of the material which ensures that the sail profile stays in position when strong gusts hit the sail.
2 // Laminate Stretch Control Tendon
The Kevlar Stretch Control Tendons distribute the load throughout the surface of the sail from clew to luff. They control the breaking point for the twist, increase the wind range, and increase the longevity of the sail. An original Simmer Style feature that has been widely adopted by many other sail brands.
// Lightweight Construction, Strength Were It’s Needed
We only use the most durable laminate scrims on the market. 100% polyester film with high stretch resilience thread reinforcement. The layers of film are bonded together with a UV resistance glue. We only use lighter scrims (less strong materials) in areas where the swing weight is reduced and where the loading is fairly low. Our focus is not to build the lightest sail weighing sail on a scale. But to build the lightest sail in terms of feeling without sacrificing durability. Our X-Ply / Q2-Ply / Q-Ply Scrims are made by the leading manufacturer, Dimension Polyant in the USA.
// Durable Clew Design
A sails clew is a high load area, therefor all Simmer Style sails features seven layers reinforcement plus the a overlapping six layers from the finger tendons. The finger tendons distributes the loads over a greater a larger area of the sailcloth surface, which increases the durability, as well as the direct handling of the sail. On our wave sails we also use a stainless steel O-Ring, secured with six layers of strong nylon webbing. Simmer quality defined.
// Durability Redefined: Layered Clew for Extreme Load Performance
The clew of a sail is a high-stress area, which is why all Simmer Style sails feature seven layers of reinforcement, along with an additional six overlapping layers from the finger tendons. These finger tendons distribute the load over a larger surface area of the sailcloth, enhancing durability and providing more direct handling. On our wave sails, we also use a stainless steel O-ring secured with six layers of durable nylon webbing. This is what defines Simmer quality.
// Precision Tapered Battens
The Precision Tapered Battens are custom designed for each sail size to push the sail profile forward and keep the draft locked in for stability. Our battens are built with plus 50 layers of glasfiber/carbon that is laminated under extreme pressure. Then each batten is CNC machined to the exact tapered.
