Marc Paré Secures His Third Consecutive Win in Tenerife
Marc Paré has done it again. In epic conditions with strong wind and logo high waves at El Médano, the Paré delivered a masterclass performance to claim his third consecutive victory at the Tenerife World Cup.
Marc delivered the best heat total of the entire event with an exceptional 36.63 points, including a perfect Double forward and a perfect Push Forward, scoring 10 points or both, maxing out his score sheet on jumps. A performance that leaves no doubt: this confirms his status as the master of El Médano.
He wasn’t handed the win easily. Five-time world champion Philip Köster pushed him all the way to the final, winning every heat before it and delivering standout moves in the semi-final. Marc’s consistency in both jumps and on the waves made him unbeatable again this year in El Medano.

We met up with Marc for a quick Q&A:
Congratulations Marc! You were looking unstopable all the way to the podium. How was it coming into the event with back-to-back wins the past two years?
Marc – Thank you so much! It was in fact mentally tough as, in some way, it adds some unwanted pressure. None-the-less, I had one clear thing in mind, which was showcasing good sailing.
El Médano really turned it on this year, looking more than Pozo than Cabezo with nuking winds and logo high waves with two jumps and two waves counting. How did you like competeting in these conditions?
Marc – It was a while since we last saw Cabezo firing like this during a contest, and it was an absolute pleasure being able to share firing Cabezo with 3 other riders. I absolutely loved it and enjoyed it!
I’m sure your fans are curious about the new sail that you where using during the event, tell us about your sails?
Marc – The sails I used during the event, were the preproduction samples of the new 2027 Blacktip Team Carbon that we will be releasing in October. We took it to the next level introducing new technologies, with the new Q-bond fused panel seams, and optimized construction for increased performance and lightness. It is an absolute weapon!
And what board did you choose the the event?
Marc – I ended up choosing and competing on the Omnia, as the wind was very strong and it helped me with a lot of control and speed for the jumps, and reliability in the gusty winds while bottom turning! Don’t be fooled by the flat fast rocker and parallel outline, the board turns like a dream in those onshore conditions.
We were just looking back at some footage from 2024 when you re-joined Simmer and you have really improved your sailing. What’s the secret?
Marc – I think it comes mainly to how comfortable and easy the gear has become. I used to chase a specific hardcore performance feel, and now we are chasing consistency, lightness and reliability, which makes my sailing a lot more consistent as I have to think a lot less. The gear is just plug n’ play.
You maxed out your score sheet on jumps in the finals with two 10’s. How do you improve a score sheet like this?
Marc – The semis and the final, were indeed the highest scoring heats of my life. Doing heats like that was something I could have only dreamed of… so really happy to be able to make it reality. I think it’s hard and almost impossible to score a perfect heat with 40/40 points. We would need much longer heats to achieve that and still would be pretty hard. But always something to improve in the wave riding!

1st Place in U15 and 3rd Place in U18 — The Kolb González Brothers Do It Again!
The González brothers made their mark once again in Tenerife. Dennis Kolb González claimed back-to-back U15 titles in Tenerife, winning the category with a commanding score of 19.62 and riding, in the words of the PWA, “to a level far above his competitors” — stomping back loops and radical turns to seal the win. His younger brother Eric continued his breakout season on the world stage, while Yannik Kolb González claimed 3rd place in the U18 category, sailing consistently against a strong international field. From Pozo to El Médano, it’s been a summer to remember for the González family — and this is only the beginning.
Masters Final Between Proffitt and Stoltz
El Médano served up another thrilling Masters final, this time between teammates Ben Proffit and local standout Jochen Stolz. Proffit sealed the win with a standout 9.62-point wave including a perfect wave 360, a high-scoring tweaked pushloop and a stalled forward — Stolz fought hard, but he could not match Proffit’s performance. It’s a fitting result for a rider who spent the entire week doing double duty: competing at the highest level while also calling the action from the commentary booth.
