Marc Paré Takes Wissant and the World Tour Lead

Marc Paré seems to be unstoppable! The reigning World Champion claimed victory at the 4-star Wissant Wave Classic on France’s Côte d’Opale, beating five-time World Champion Philip Köster in an epic final. With this result Marc moves up into the overall lead of the World Tour.

This shapes up to be one of the closest title battles the sport has seen in years. Marc and Köster arrived in Wissant dead level on points, having traded the top two spots at every major event so far this season — Köster took the win ahead of Marc in Pozo, Gran Canaria, and Marc struck back at Tenerife for his third consecutive title there in the final against Köster, and now Marc has taken Wissant too. Three events, the same two men on the podium each time, and now just 1,200 points separate them heading into the season’s final stops in Germany, Maui and Chile.

The tour now heads to Sylt, Germany, from 25 September to 4 October, an event where Köster has won three times, and Marc has two back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025. With just 1,200 points between them, the World Championship could well be decided there.
