In an exciting turn of events, Simmer and O’Shea UK team riders Phil Horrocks and Cori MacFarlane have clinched the 2024 UK National Wave titles for the men’s and women’s Pro fleets, respectively. The championship, determined over two events—Rhosneigr and Tiree—saw diverse conditions, ranging from onshore to cross-offshore, challenging even the most seasoned competitors.
Phil Horrocks sailed the new Simmer Quantex and 2025 Blacktip sails, putting on a stellar performance at his home spot in Rhosneigr with cross-onshore conditions that showcased his jumping and wave-riding prowess. Despite placing third in the cross-offshore conditions of Tiree, he advanced to a gripping 12-minute title decider against Lukas Meldrum. In perfect logo-high, cross-offshore waves, Phil secured the win with a phenomenal last wave, earning one of the day’s highest scores. Phil Horrocks has achieved an impressive milestone, securing his sixth UK Wave Champion title in the 2024 UK National Wave series.
Cori MacFarlane, a recent addition to the Simmer team, made an immediate impact by winning her first heat on her new Flywave boards (72 and 78) and 2025 Blacktip sails. Dominating the women’s fleet with powerful wave riding, she even impressed VIP judge Duncan Coombes, who suggested her skills belong on the PWA World Tour. In a testament to her grit, Cori overcame a broken nose, sustained from a wave impact during her warm-up. Ignoring medical advice to seek treatment immediately, she returned to the water and clinched the UK Wave title with a memorable victory.
Congratulations to Cori and Phil!
