The stars aligned for the opening stop of the British Wavesailing Tour at the Cornish Coldwater Classic — and for the second year running, the conditions were nothing short of epic. Clean swell, solid wind, and high-performance wave sailing set the tone for an unforgettable start to the 2026 season.
When the conditions turned on, so did the Simmer Style team!
Sarah Hilder — The Ultimate Comeback
In one of the standout stories of the weekend, Sarah Hilder delivered an incredible performance to claim the top podium spot. After suffering a broken foot in Tenerife during the PWA event, Sarah’s comeback could not have been more emphatic. Composed, powerful and fully committed, she showed exactly what resilience and world-class talent look like.
Backing up the Simmer presence in the women’s fleet was 2025 UK Women’s Wave Champion Cori McFarlane, who secured a strong 4th place finish in a competitive draw — a solid start to the year and more to come.
Sarah Comments in Windsurf Magazine:
” It’s always such a great vibe at this event. I’m really proud to be part of the windsurfing community here with such great conditions. Everyone pushes each other, and that’s what makes it so rewarding. I have lots to work on coming away from the competition, it really motivates me and that is what competition is about! Well done to all the other competitors and a huge thank you to the organisers and sponsors for putting on such a great weekend! ”
Men’s Division – The Champ vs the King.
On the men’s side, 2025 UK Men’s Wave Champion Phil Horrocks pushed hard in a tightly contested final against Andy King. Phil delivered what were arguably the best rail turns of the entire event — pure power, precision, and beautiful surfing style that turned heads on the beach.
Wave selection proved decisive in the final moments, and despite an outstanding performance, Phil narrowly missed the win, with Andy King claiming what is believed to be his first-ever Cornwall victory.
Phil’s was riding: G7 Flywave and Blacktip Team Carbon
Double Win for Sam Wade
Simmer’s latest UK signing, Sam Wade, announced himself in serious style at the Cornish Coldwater Classic — standing out as one of the most exciting prospects for the future of British wavesailing.
Sam dominated the weekend, claiming victory in both the Pro Am division and the Youth division — a statement performance that underlines exactly why he’s one to watch.
Confident, composed, and delivering under pressure, Sam showed maturity well beyond his years and the kind of competitive edge that defines the next generation of wave sailing.
Sam was riding: 2026/27 Blacktip Pro and G7 Flywave.
A huge congratulations, Sam — this is just the beginning.
