Evoq and Blacktip - What's the Difference?

Is the Evoq More Powerful Than the Blacktip?
Split Batten Lineup
The Evoq features a split batten lineup for ultimate handling throughout all sizes. The 3.7 to 4.7 feature a 4 batten panel layout, and from 5.0 to 6.6 a 5 batten panel layout. The main benefit is that we can design the sail with the exact needed distance between the battens needed to achieve the right feeling for draft and stability. The sail sizes are progressively designed in both construction and sail profile. The smaller sizes have less sail profile, and the larger ones offer more low-end grunt for getting going in marginal conditions.
Which Riders Does the Evoq Suit?
The Evoq packs all the best features from the Blacktip, as well as the legendary Icon, into one plug-and-play sail concept. The Evoq is designed for the avid wave sailors with high demands for radical performance while appreciating a more relaxed and controllable ride. It delivers exceptional performance across a wide range of conditions, whether you’re focused on jumping, wave riding, or charging in massive surf. So, no matter if you’re going down the line at Punta Preta or blasting on the lake, the Evoq’s performance will suit you.
The 2025 Evoq test rapport in the recent issue of Surf-Magazin.de
“ The Simmer Style EvoQ has convinced us! It offers a lot of planing performance on flat water and in the waves and combines this with very good control and great handling. This makes it suitable for a large target group, from occasional wave surfers to professionals. And it is by no means the wrong choice as a strong wind sail for flat water.“
