Flywave V61 88 L – Proto

2,400 USD

Marc used this board in Europe when the waves were decent to good, and in Chile (Matanzas) as his daily board. It is a tweaked version of the Flywave 92, scaled down to 88 L.

On this board, we added a bit more rocker in the center, shortened the nose, and extended and pulled in the tail. The extra center rocker allows you to bottom turn a little harder and makes the board perform better in good to bigger waves. The shorter nose makes the board feel freer and fit better into the wave. The longer tail offers extra control when the waves get bigger, while the pulled-in tail loosens up the board and allows it to turn tighter.

It’s a really good board to have as a one-board quiver for trips, as it works well from average to good or even epic conditions. Compared to a production board, it will require a bit more input from the rider in weaker, smaller waves.

Marc used the board both as a thruster and a quad setup. For more rail-to-rail or down-the-line conditions, Marc recommends it as a quad (15/9). For side-on conditions, he recommends the thruster for a more pivoty and vertical approach, with a bit more drive in the bottom turn.

Mast base position should be set in the middle of the box or slightly back, and the back footstrap in the second hole from the back.
