Finals day at the 2026 Tiree Wave Classic at Balevullin delivered everything the island is known for: massive surf and down-the-line conditions in epic Scottish scenery. The competitors went big!
Marc Paré came into the event as the World Tour leader and charged his way through the elimination ladder. He beat teammate Vicente González in the quarter-final to reach the semi-final, where he came up against Miguel Chapuis. With only two waves counting towards the result, both riders put on a world-class show, but in the end Chapuis took the win and moved on to the final.
On the other side of the elimination ladder, Ben Proffitt, a multiple Tiree event winner, was looking confident after winning the Masters the day before. After beating Andy Chambers in his quarter-final, he went up against Marino Gil in the semi-final. Even though Ben put together a strong heat, with good wave selection and a goiter on the end section, Marino snatched the win with an even stronger performance.
As the conditions seemed to be swinging even further offshore, teammates Marc Paré and Ben Proffitt fought for third place. Ben put together a solid heat against the reigning World Champion, but the judges favoured Marc’s turns in the critical section, giving him a 1.23-point advantage and third place in the event. It was Marc’s fourth podium finish of 2026.
It was also a significant event for the tour. Tiree’s 42nd edition was its first World Cup since 2007 and carried World Championship points, so every heat counted. Marc strengthens his lead over Philip Köster with just two events left: Maui and Chile.
A massive congratulations to the entire Simmer Style team, including multiple British Champion and Tiree event winner Cori McFarlane, who finished 4th in the women’s, Chilean ripper Vicente González, who finished 5th. Our latest recruit, Samuel Wade, finished second in the Juniors, and the Simmer Style UK Team dominated the Masters divisions..
